Meet Phil our charming and whimsical groundhog. Raised & imprinted by college kids, he is unreleasable into the wild. He will make you laugh with his funny antics. The groundhog (Marmota monax), also known as a woodchuck, or in some areas as a land-beaver, is a rodent of the family Sciuridae, belonging to the group of large ground squirrels known as marmots. Groundhogs are well adapted for digging, with short but powerful limbs and curved, thick claws. Unlike other sciurids, the groundhog's spine is curved, more like that of a mole, and the tail is comparably shorter as well – only about one-fourth of body length. Suited to their temperate habitat, groundhogs are covered with two coats of fur: a dense grey undercoat and a longer coat of banded guard hairs that gives the groundhog its distinctive "frosted" appearance.
We have a Virginia state permit & a USDA permit to have him in our program.

Meet Sonic our African Pygmy Hedgehog. Aside from being very cute & personable. He does a very cool eating demonstration. A hedgehog is any of the spiny mammals of the subfamily Erinaceinae . There are 17 species of hedgehog in five genera, found through parts of Europe, Asia, Africa, and New Zealand. There are no hedgehogs native to Australia, and no living species native to North America; those in New Zealand are introduced. Hedgehogs have changed little over the last 15 million years. Like many of the first mammals they have adapted to a nocturnal, insectivorous way of life. Hedgehogs are easily recognized by their spines, which are hollow hairs made stiff with keratin. Their spines are not poisonous or barbed and, unlike the quills of a porcupine, cannot easily be removed from the hedgehog.

This is our Vietnamese potbelly pig Hamlet. He visits and does tricks. Hamlet is totally housebroken, he lives in our house, sleeps in the bed, and runs with our dogs. The pot-bellied pig (Vietnamese: Lợn ỉ) is a breed of domesticated pig originating in Vietnam with fourteen sub-species. Considerably smaller than standard American or European farm pigs, most adult pot-bellied pigs are about the size of a medium- or large-breed dog, though their bodies are denser at a weight of (60 to 300 lb). Pot-bellied pigs can be easily discerned from other pig breeds by their size, upright ears and straight tail.

We have several beautiful friendly ferrets that are sweet and lovable.
The ferret is a domesticated mammal of the type Mustela putorius furo. Ferrets are predators with males being substantially larger than females. They typically have brown, black, white, or mixed fur, and have a natural lifespan of 7 to 10 years. Ferrets are crepuscular, which means they spend 14–18 hours a day asleep and are most active around the hours of dawn and dusk. When excited, they may perform a routine commonly referred to as the weasel war dance, characterized by a frenzied series of sideways hops and bumping into things. Despite its zeal, this is not aggressive but is a joyful invitation to play. It is often accompanied by a soft clucking noise, commonly referred to as dooking. When agitated or upset, on the other hand, ferrets will make a distinct hissing noise.

The Lionhead rabbit originated in Belgium.
